Employment Programs

Supported Work / Work Ready

The Supported Work / Work Ready Program consist of the following components:

  • Supported Work / Work Ready – provides TANF recipients with education, skills training, work activities and job placement services designed to enable them to become self sufficient.
  • All clients are referred by the County Assistance Office.
  • Supported Work / Work Ready assist adults to develop and reach goals of employment and/or education. The goal of the program is to provide a positive and gradual introduction to work. The expected outcome is job placement into unsubsidized employment for at least 30 hours per week and paying at least $8.00 per hour.
  • The program is designed to serve primarily individuals who have substantial barriers that interfere with their full engagement in work activities in compliance with federal requirements. Participation for some clients may be long term and there is no upper limit on the length of participation. In consideration of these barriers, a gradual engagement plan can be utilized on an as needed basis.

Outreach Services

Goal of the Outreach Services Component is:

  • Ensure all clients who are mandatory for RESET are given every opportunity to discuss their compliance with the work requirements so that TANF benefits can continue or be restored as determined appropriate until unsubsidized employment can be obtained.
  • To locate TANF clients who should be engaged in employment and training activities and facilitate their participation in a review appointment with the CAO for a determination of their status.

Eligibility for Supported Work Program:

Individuals must be currently receiving TANF and have an active case with the Westmoreland County Assistance Office. Case Workers from the County Assistance office will refer participants to the program.
